The Hills route gets its name from the small elevations of the land which are caused by erosion mainly in the plains.Theses hills stretch
out long the basins of the Ondara, Torrent Salat and Montpalau river. The woods among the wide crop fields are one of the main features of this itinerary.

The Roman's route

The Roman settlement was founded in the II BC. Its golden age was around II-III AC. After the feudal conquer of the 11th century, the town was known
as Guissona. It was and still is one of the main towns of the area of La Segarra.
The outskirts of the town still preserve vestiges from a large history. You go round enclosed villages, fortified towns ,by houses decorated with renascence large windows and coats of arms like the Torrefeta and Bellveí ones. In the same villages there are the churches of baroque and classicist style.of Sant Jaume de Bellveí and of Sant Amanç de Torrefeta. In the Torrefeta church there is stone in the façade with a inscription curved on the same stone’ the foundation stone was placed on 25th March 1675’

La Pleta route

Among the old town centres of Florejacs and Les Pallargues with aristocratic houses, takes its name from the rural stone buildings
which were built to keep cattle. These buildings become one of the most genuine from La Segarra popular architecute. The path goes past one
of these buildings which contrast with other elements from the Segarra heritage.

The Monasteries route

Places of interest: Santuario de Sant Ramon. Castellmeià.
The monastery route takes its name from the sanctuary of Sant Ramon de Portell, central point from an itinerary that allows us appreciate the
orographical variety from the centre of the region, among the basins of the Sió and llobregós rivers. From the high plateau of the
Sant Ramon plains to the Ivorra valley, The Sant Guim plains, the gullies of Malgrat or the headlands of the Manresana surroundings. Near Sant Ramon,
one of the driest areas of the region, we can see the characteristical rows of stone originally used for the building.

The two valleys route

Places of interest: Celler Cooperatiu de Sant Guim de Freixenet (cellar). Sant Julià d'Estaràs.
Among the Sió and Freixenet valleys we find the two main elements of the Segarra heritage: EL Celler Cooperatiu de Sant Guim de Freixenet
and Montfalcó murallat. The cellar is a building from Cesar Martinell with Gaudí features and related to the agricultural
development programme promoted by the Mancomunitat of Catalonia (1920).

The cercavins route

Punts d'interès: Old town centre of Montornés Torres cilíndriques de l'Ametlla / the cylindrical towers of l’Ametlla and Montoliu.
The Cercavins river rises in the coasts of the Suró mountain range(790m) and this route goes around the areas of Montoliu de Segarra
and Montcortés. It is a plain land with woods, crop fields,almond tres and olive trees and also vineyards. In ancient times there were
vineyards all around La Segarra whereas nowadays it has disappeared besides this area.

The Sió Castles route

Places of interest: Castells de la Ruta( the castles route). Sant Esteve de Pelagalls. Sant Salvador de Concabella. Cervera.
This area was conquered by the andalusins In the middle of the 11th century . The bank of the Sió was soon full of castles and churches.
There are a great amount of castles that give name to this route such as the Montcortés(1095), Concabella(1031),
Les Pallargues (1040) and Aranyó (1120). All of them were restored in the modern times to become castles –palace. The castle
of Pallargues is the one that best preserves the medieval construction elements and it can be visited.

The Doll castles

Places of interest: Old town centre and the church of Santa Maria, the Castle of Florejacs and the Sitges castle.
The Doll castles route goes around the Guissona plains and the reliefs of the plains, isolated low ridges and wide depressions that lead to the
river Sió and the town of Agramunt belonging to the old area of Florejacs.
The two main elements in this route are the Florejacs and Sitges castle. Florejacs is a manor house of renascence style built in the place of an old castle from the 11th century which can be visited. The Sitges castle dates from the 11th century, nowadays is one of the best preserved medieval fortress in the La Segarra region with constructions from the 13 th and 14th century.
